கடந்த 20-30 ஆண்டுகளாக மக்கள் “நவீன வீடுகளின்” மேல் நம்பிக்கை மேலும் மோகம் கொண்டு உள்ளனர். அனால் “நவீன வீடுகளின்” கூரை வடிவமைப்பு வீட்டின் அடிப்படை தேவையை பூர்த்தி செய்வதாக இல்லை. கடும் வெயில் காலத்தில் வீட்டின் உட்புறம் “கடும் வெப்பமாகவும்”, குளிர்/மழை காலத்தில் வீட்டின் உட்புறம் “கடும் குளிராகவும்”, காற்றோட்டம் இல்லாமல் உள்ளது.

You often hear people describing houses as “Modern” or “Old fashioned”. The so-called Modern house is often merely fashionable but foolish, simply because it is expensive and does not take into account the locally available inexpensive materials of the local climatic conditions or the actual needs of the occupants.

Modern House
The roof does not protect the walls from rain and sun with the result that it is not very comfortable or convenient to live in.

Old Fashioned House
copes effectively with weather hazards such as strong sun, heavy rain, strong winds, high humidity etc., The “old fashioned” house has a sloping roof which quickly sheds heavy rain, protects walls from getting damp and from the sun.
